  如何充分利用這段時間,讓大家既能積極參與不覺沉悶,又為下學(xué)年的學(xué)習(xí)打下更堅實的基礎(chǔ)呢?

  Due to the impact of the pandemic, the IGCSE Mathematics Exam, originally scheduled in early May, has been delayed by a full month. After nearly three months of review, our Grade 9 students finally took the IGCSE math exam in early June. The long review period inevitably made students feel bored and tired, and with the completion of all the exams, everyone dived into their summer holidays. However, after everyone has finished all the Mocks and EoY exams, there is still one more week of study...

  How to make full use of this week so that everyone can actively participate in class and lay a more solid foundation for the upcoming academic year?

  與眾不同的數(shù)學(xué)課

  數(shù)學(xué)老師Ms. Cissy Yu 介紹道:

  Ms. Cissy Yu, SDA Math teacher, introduced to us:

  活動中,同學(xué)們以小組為單位,利用這一周的時間,歸納總結(jié)過去一年的學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容、了解明年的學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù)、對比相關(guān)知識點,為預(yù)習(xí)制定詳細有效的目標(biāo)與規(guī)劃,較后以展示板的形式呈現(xiàn)出來,互相分享。這個過程鍛煉了學(xué)生們的團隊合作能力、重組歸納能力、調(diào)研能力以及創(chuàng)意展示能力,同時,也讓大家切身體驗了學(xué)習(xí)的自主性。

  In this project, students worked in groups during this week. They summarized what they’d learned in the past year, got to know what they need to learn in the next year, compared related knowledge points, and formulated detailed and effective goals and plans for the preview work. In the end, they presented all the resources in the form of a display board and shared the information with each other. This process has developed students' cooperation skills, information integration ability, research skills and creativity. It also allowed students to practice their initiative in learning.

  一周的時間非常緊張,大家需要很快地進入狀態(tài),進行合理分工。有的需要制作復(fù)習(xí)用的Tarsia Puzzle,有的需要閱讀老師提供的CAIE官方課程大綱并摘取出關(guān)鍵信息,有的需要上網(wǎng)搜索更多學(xué)習(xí)資料,有的需要去MyiMaths學(xué)習(xí)并答題,有的需要進行美術(shù)加工...…

  One week was very limited for this project. Everyone needed to get in the zone and perform a reasonable division of labor. Some needed to create a Tarsia Puzzle for review; some needed to read through the official CAIE curriculum resources provided by the teacher and extract key information; some needed to search online for more learning materials; some needed to go to MyiMaths to study and answer questions, and some needed to make decorations, etc.

  對于IG年級學(xué)生Eric Feng 來說,這次活動不僅僅是關(guān)于數(shù)學(xué)的,更是一場互相配的團隊合作:

  For Eric Feng, from IG Math, this was not only a project on math, but also on teamwork:

  這次為期一周的小組作業(yè)對我們來說是新穎的、前所未有的。我們不僅要有數(shù)學(xué)思維還要有創(chuàng)意和一點藝術(shù)細胞。各個成員都分工明確并且相互幫助。通過Myimath上的各種詳細的課程或老師給的資料學(xué)習(xí)來完成任務(wù)。當(dāng)一些小組遇到有難度的主題時Cissy老師也會為我們詳細的講解。畫報中的內(nèi)容不僅復(fù)習(xí)了IG數(shù)學(xué),還預(yù)習(xí)了A-Level數(shù)學(xué)的一些內(nèi)容,為我們下學(xué)期的學(xué)習(xí)打下了基礎(chǔ)。印象中較深刻也是較有趣的一幕我覺得就是較后一節(jié)課當(dāng)所有小組都完成了海報并上臺展示的時候,每一張海報都很驚艷、完美,可以看出每一個成員的用心制作。這次的小組作業(yè)是另一種有趣的學(xué)習(xí)方式,大家收獲的不僅是數(shù)學(xué)知識,更有團隊合作的精神和動手能力。

  the on-week-long Math Project was new and unprecedented for us. We should not only think mathematically but also be creative and a little artistic. In this group project, each member has a clear division of labor and always helps each other. We can use the various detailed courses on Myimath or information given by teacher to study. When some groups encountered difficult topics, Ms.Cissy would also explain them in detail. The content of the poster not only reviews IG math, but also previews Alevel math. It helps lay the foundation for our study in the next semester. To my mind, the most impressive and interesting scene was that in the last class, when all the groups finished the posters and presented them in front of us, each one of them was so amazing and perfect that we could see the efforts each member put into them. This group work is another interesting way of learning. We could acquire not just the Mathematics knowledge but the team spirit and hands-on experience as well.

  我和小組成員們一起制作的版面主題是微分。由于是成員較少的小組,起初還有些擔(dān)心分配工作的問題。然而很快四個人都非常熱情地投入了進來,歸功于大家豐富的想象力,我們成功地設(shè)計出了一個十分具有“童話風(fēng)格”的版面~我們想通過繪畫和故事的方式將抽象的微分概念串聯(lián)成有趣且易于接受的事物:展現(xiàn)微分原理的“切割彩虹”、萌萌的“芝諾龜”,引發(fā)大家想要進一步探索AS數(shù)學(xué)的興趣。制作過程中還出現(xiàn)了一些令人難忘的小插曲,險些把一個裝飾彩蛋畫成倒置的菠蘿(作為畫手我們真的盡力啦)。

  The topic of my group was differentiation. Being the group of the least members, we harbored some concerns about how to assign the work at first. However, all of our members contributed enthusiastically. Thanks to everyone's fertile imagination, we successfully designed a poster with the style of "fairy tale." we want to bring the abstract concept of differential series into interesting things which are easier to understand: the principle of differential shown through cutting a rainbow, the cute "Zeno turtle"...Therefore, we might have a greater interest in exploring AS mathematics. There were also many memorable moments--once we almost drew an Easter egg as an upside-down pineapple (but we did our best as painters).

  本次數(shù)學(xué)活動的展示讓每位學(xué)生都很好的鞏固了所學(xué)習(xí)的知識,為下個階段數(shù)學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)打下了堅實的基礎(chǔ)。同時本次活動也讓同學(xué)們切身感受到,數(shù)學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)不是枯燥無味的,還能是有趣的、充滿創(chuàng)意的。

  This IG Math Project allows students to well review the knowledge learned and well prepare for the next stage of mathematics learning. At the same time, this activity also let the students feel that the study of mathematics is not boring, it can be interesting and creative teamwork.
