The fourth week flag-raising ceremony in MYHS was held by G11 CTC class. The topic for this week was “The stronger the youths are, the stronger the nation will be”.

　　The flag raiser was Victoria (Yang Zhiling), and the bearer was Derrick (Chen Yizhe). Victoria solemnly swore that she was going to raise and lower our national flag on time during this week, also it was great honor to undertake the responsibility.

　　Then Cindy (Zhang Xuecen) and Tim (Xiao Huhua) made wonderful speeches about teenagers’ duty for the country. Cindy introduced the story of Chairman Mao to us by video. Chairman Mao, at the same age of us, showed his ambitions by leading a strike. Everyone in the hall was impressed by Chairman Mao’s brave deeds .With a relaxed and interesting delivery, Tim introduced a lot of remarkable teenagers in Chinanowadays and encouraged all the students to study hard for national prosperity.

　　After their passionate speeches, John (Jiang Hansong) led all the students and teachers in the hall to recite a powerful prose from Liang Qichao who was a prestigious scholar a hundred years ago. John’s infectious voice fired us with enthusiasm so that we began to think about these questions: How can we be the kind of person like Chairman Mao? How can we contribute to the future of China?

　　At the end, our supervisor Heidi Li summarized the ceremony from her perspective and gaveus some useful advices to us. She pointed that we, the new generation of China, were benefited from the previous generation who fighted for independency so that we could live and study in peace. Now as Chinese young people, our mission was to keep peace and make the world always have an ear for China on global issues. It was a really impressive speech from Heidi’s deep vision.

　　After the flag-raising ceremony, Rhoda (Luo Haolan) hosted “2 minutes English free talk” which was a new tradition in MYHS. The topic for this week was “Which country do you choose to study in? And why?” It meant that we would consider whether to come back China after study abroad.
