The Geography and Tourism and Hospitality classes of Grade 10 collaborated across subjects to visit T. Park in Tsang Tsui, Tuen Mun, Hong Kong on 11 June, which involved the topics of sustainable cities and eco-tourism that students are studying. T. Park provides sludge treatment solutions for Hong Kong, as well as recreational facilities such as spas and various educational workshops.
First, students watched a short film introducing T · Park in the T Theatre equipped with advanced lighting and audio-visual systems. Then, students learned about the sludge treatment process through a series of innovative and interactive exhibits in the Exhibition Hall. Through interesting animations, they understood that the heat generated during the incineration process can generate electricity and heat the spa water in the facility.
In addition, through the large glass windows, students saw the operation of the facility and a series of life-size models to feel the scale and complexity of the facility.
Through this field trip, students realised that the sludge treatment facility is not only a sludge treatment plant, but also a vision to actively encourage and enhance the public's positive attitude towards waste management, resource recovery and recycling. Students understand that this is a place to learn about sustainable development and experience Hong Kong's green culture.
